Vaucluse mansion sells for $6,550,000 the week's most expensive sale: RP Data

A four bedroom house on prestigious Coolong Road in Vaucluse was the week's most expensive sale, according to RP Data.

The sale at $6,550,000 was comfortably the highest fee brought in over the week, topping a five bedroom house in Kyle Bay and a a four bedroom house in Gordon by a margin of just under $4 million.

This week saw the 2014 property market season kick-off after Melbourne and Sydney reached record-breaking heights in spring last year.

Sydney recorded a clearance rate of 80.3%, while 73.6% of houses in Melbourne sold, according to Australian Property Monitors.

The house at 6 Coolong Road, Vaucluse (pictured below) was marketed as the perfect modern family home, in reference to its close proximity to public and private schools as well as nearby Vaucluse Village.

Inspired by Toorak architecture and set on a 835 square metre block the property features expansive terraces, a gourmet kitchen and a gas heated swimming pool.
