Swedish fashion retailer H&M is joining fellow European fashion giants Zara and Topshop by venturing into Australian  retail waters.

It announced the news via its Facebook page on Thursday night.

“We are happy to announce that we will open our first H&M store in Australia in 2014! Stay tuned for more details,” the post read.

A February Colliers White Paper notes that H&M has plans for 10 stores in Australia over the next few years, and is seeking 20,000 square metres of space.

H&M offers affordable fashion for men, women and children.

The first store is likely to be in either Sydney or Melbourne.
