Canberran David Richards, his wife, Janean, and their three children are getting into Christmas in a big way - perhaps even a world record-beating way. Richards spend hundreds of hours installing 29,630 metres of LED strings and an 18-metre high light-controlled tree, according to the Canberra Times

He has sent the video of his light extravaganza to London for consideration for the Guinness world record for the most Christmas lights on a residential home. The current record sits at 250,000 lights. The Richards' family home is covered in 331,038 lights.

''It's not just Christmas lights - it goes in colours and waves up and down the driveway, it changes colour and the tree spins,'' Richards told the Canberra Times.
