RBA charts: Investors and first-home buyers returning to the market

The mortgage market appears to be on the mend, with investors and first-home buyers leading the charge, according to RBA’ s December chart pack.

An “unofficial” increase in mortgage demand was noted by mortgage broker AFG in its November sales numbers, which spiked by 18% led by investors and first home buyers.

The growing demand for home loans comes as house prices continue to fall across all markets, though Sydney prices are flattening out as this chart shows:

Alongside cheaper house prices and a growing demand for mortgages, there has also been a slight drop in the amount of money people are saving:
