Sydney has about 575 auctions this weekend, according to Australian Property Monitors, which is about 7% up on the same Saturday last year.

The following weekend there are around 650 auctions scheduled then 500 in a fortnight, a very late and heavy offering for the lead into Christmas.

Melbourne has around 950 auctions this weekend, according to the Real Estate Institute of Victoria. The following weekend there are around 970 auctions scheduled then 930 in a fortnight, a similar heavy workload for the lead into Christmas.

Tomorrow's no picnic either as First National Sydney chief auctioneer Michael McCaffery tweeted today.
