There is an oversupply of rentals in Townsville with available properties exceeding demand, according to Herron Todd White’s (HTW) latest market report.

The property advisory firm says that although there are issues with rental vacancy, the trend is steady.

HTW said there is fair demand for new houses, which coincides with a steady trend of new houses being built despite increasing volume of house sales.

New properties in Townsville are almost never sold at prices exceeding their potential resale value, the report said.

Other regions with a fair demand for new houses includes Whitsundays and Brisbane.
