"Where is it cheapest to buy?"
It's a question that many different people ask, and is difficult to answer. Property prices vary within suburbs and, depending on what you're looking for, you may be able to find a good home for lower than the median headlining price - remember, the median is the middle number in the data set and so there are equally as many properties below that figure as above.
In saying that, when the median is lower it does generally suggest that recently transacted properties have been cheaper.
