The lendlease executive - and novelist - Greg Flynn and wife, Wendy have scheduled their stockbroker Tudor-style Pymble home for September 19 auction. It was built for the 1930s Northbridge suspension bridge engineer, William K Bate.

The 27 Beechworth Road, Pymble property was designed in the early 1930s for Bate by the architect William Richardson with an office and library so that he could work at the house close to the worksite.

Chadwick Real Estate listing agent Sophie Musgrave says 27 Beechworth Road was noted in council records shortly after completion as “a villa and a garage with an improved value £1600”.

The Bates lived at the property until 1980.

Flynn's debut 2005 novel was the historical crime thriller, The Berlin Cross. His touted humorous novel set in Sydney awaits completion.
