Moonee Ponds tops Melbourne's Valentine's Day auctions
Moonee Ponds had the weekend's top auction sale in Melbourne.
The $2.44 million trophy home - a simple Calirfornian bungalow at 26 Ardmillan Road - last sold at $915,000 in 2003.
The 1920s house came with 275 square metre one level space on its 805 square metre block.
It was renovated in 2004.
David Vaughan at Nelson Alexander secured the weekend sale having offered buyers a $2.2 million to $2.4 million price guidance.
The next highest was a likely knockdown house on a 1,736 square metre corner site at 112 Winmalee Road, Balwyn through Peter Dixon and William Chen of Jellis Craig.
A clearance rate of 74% was recorded on the Valentine's Day weekend compared to 65% last weekend and 70% the same weekend last year.
There were 458 auctions reported to the REIV, with 338 selling and 120 being passed in, 61 of those on a vendor bid.
