The grand dame of Australian cooking, Beverley Sutherland Smith secured $3.3 million at weekend auction for her Melbourne home which comes with kitchen where she hosted her iconic cooking school for the past five decades.

The Mt Waverley offering was a 2,200 square metre garden estate with 1960s house with pool and court.

It was in the 1967 that foodies began attending one of Australia's first cooking schools at 29 Regent Street.

Even American boxer George Foreman filmed a commercial for his electric grill at the house which was auctioned through Stockdale and Leggo.
