Alkira, the audacious Cape Tribulation trophy home, has been bought by a unit trust linked to Melbourne accountant David Brandi and his wife Tina.

Its $4 million price emerged this week on Queensland land title records.

Stamp collector Rodney Perry and wife Marider had it designed for its Daintree location by architect Charles Wright, looking like its floating on the water which surrounds it.

Set on 29 hectares, the home splits off into six separate bedrooms pods, all with en suites and five with balconies which protrude over the lake.

The property won the 2014 Queensland Architecture Award. It has been listed by Unique Estates Australia.

The name is Aboriginal for a happy place in the sun.
