Antico clan exit longtime Astor apartments

The Astor, Sydney CBD apartment of the late Sir Tristan and Lady Antico fetched $2.15 million at its recent auction. 

The sixth-floor, three bedroom north-east corner apartment was bought by the Antico's some three decades ago, becoming their home after the trophy mansion Tregoyd in Mosman was sold in 1996 for $11 million.

Sir Tristan, founder of Pioneer Concrete, died in 2004, and his widow Lady Dorothy last year .

Agents David Newgrosh and Tony Barron secured the sale at Cooley Auction.

The pre-auction price guide was between $1.8 million and $2 million. 

Macquarie Street's Astor building has ranked among the most prestigious high-rise apartment block since 1922.
