Sekisui secure approvals for Westin Coolum

Sekisui House have secured approvals for Westin Coolum, the first five-star resort developed on the Sunshine Coast in more than three decades.

The Sunshine Coast Council has signed off on the seven-storey Westin Coolum Spa and Resort after alterations to the Yaroomba Beach proposal.

The 220-room Westin hotel, along with the larger resort comprising 148 serviced apartments, 753 residential apartments, 98 two- to three-storey homes and a 2,770sq m retail village will be on a .the 19-hectare site.

Architecture firm Hassell was appointed to undertake the masterplan (pictured below) with the first stage delivering the hotel and the public components.
 
 
The 6-star Green Star rating project comes with a 2021 likely completion.

The Westin Coolum Resort & Spa will be a five minute drive north of the Sunshine Coast Airport, which offers direct flights to and from Sydney, Melbourne and Auckland, and which has just received State government approval for the addition of a new international runway to be completed by 2020.
