Developer Mirvac has announced a park spread over more than six hectares at the Waverley Park community in Melbourne.

The new park precinct in Melbourne’s Waverley Park development is Mirvac’s largest to date and will include a lake, wetlands with walking trails, boardwalks and barbecue areas.

The developer is set to unveil the ‘Finale’, the final precinct at its Waverley Park development.

Set to launch in mid October, “The Finale” will feature a range of architect-designed homes, with over two thirds of properties occupying park or lakefront locations.

It will comprise two and three-bedroom townhouses, three and four-bedroom family homes and five-bedroom premium homes.

Mirvac said the Finale has seen strong interest from existing Waverley Park home owners hoping to upgrade, as well as other families seeking premium brand-new homes in Melbourne’s south-east with the lake and park-front setting a strong drawcard.

The new park will feature a playground for young children with plans for an 8.5 metre tower that connects with walking bridges and slides. There will also be other play spaces.

Mirvac expect it to be a children’s attraction similar to Mirvac’s Woodlea playground at Rockbank.

It will also have jogging/walking trails and wetland boardwalks and fitness stations and outdoor gym equipment dotted throughout the park.

Mirvac’s general manager of Residential Victoria, Elysa Anderson, said parks and playgrounds were vital community assets for both family lifestyles and fitness.

“After years of experience in creating successful masterplanned communities, we have seen the benefits that parks bring to the community, providing environmental, aesthetic and recreational value,” she said.

The park’s design will be inspired by the surrounding lake and wetlands, using green hues and timber materials. It is expected to be completed by 2020.

The homes feature brand new designs including, spacious kitchens with stone and timber detailing, with butler’s pantries in the larger designs.

Bathrooms are designed as spacious retreats with feature baths and tapware.

Anderson said Mirvac had exceeded reserves on the sale of three display homes in the popular community in recent months and anticipates strong interest in its final remaining stage.

“The new homes in the Finale are an evolution of our most popular designs, and have been created with adaptability in mind in order to cater for growing families as well as the increasing number of multi- generational families,” she said.

Waverley Park is also home to the Hawthorn Football Club training ground at the Victorian heritage- listed grandstand and oval.

More than 1,100 homes have already been built at Waverley Park since the development launched in 2002.
