Millers Point sales fetches $21.9 million for social housing programme

Thirteen loft-style apartments have been sold for total of $21.9 million as part of the government’s programme to fund new social housing projects across New South Wales.

Property NSW, on behalf of Family and Community Services, announced the Millers Point sales programme’s latest sales.

The apartments on Gloucester Street were sold through McGrath Estate Agents via expressions of interest that ended late-June.

The highest sale was for the apartment at 52a Gloucester Street, which fetched $1.91 million, while the cheapest was on 50 Gloucester Street, changing hands for $1.44 million. 

Individual apartment results are as follows: 

  1. 46 Gloucester Street: $1.62 million 
  2. 46a Gloucester Street: $1.85 million 
  3. 50 Gloucester Street: $1.44 million 
  4. 50a Gloucester Street: $1.80 million 
  5. 52a Gloucester Street: $1.91 million 
  6. 54 Gloucester Street: $1.46 million 
  7. 54a Gloucester Street: $1.73 million 
  8. 54b Gloucester Street: $1.46 million 
  9. 54c Gloucester Street: $1.76 million 
  10. 56 Gloucester Street: $1.51 million 
  11. 56a Gloucester Street: $1.80 million 
  12. 56b Gloucester Street: $1.64 million 
  13. 56c Gloucester Street: $1.90 million 

To date, 1,077 new, fit-for-purpose social housing dwellings have been completed or are under construction in various areas including Liverpool, Parramatta, Sutherland, Wollongong and Fairfield, the media release said. 

So far, 151 properties have been sold as part of the Millers Point sales programme, for a total of $422 million which will be utilised for social housing. 

Conservation Management Plans (CMPs) endorsed by the NSW Heritage Council are included in contracts for sale for all heritage listed properties. These contracts ensure new property owners are fully informed of their responsibilities when purchasing a heritage listed property. Any maintenance or restoration on the properties must be in accordance with the CMPs.
