Gladesville secures weekend top sale with Balwyn next priciest, then Brighton

The weekend's top sale was pre-auction in Sydney's Gladesville  for 65 Wharf Road, a six bedroom riverfront (above).

It sold for at $7,095,000 through McGrath agent John Paranchi.

Melbourne's highest was when 16 Barnsbury Road, Balwyn (below) sold for $6.36 million, a five bedroom house on 1760 sqm with tennis court.

A Chinese buyer on a significant investor visa secured the Balwyn home.

There was a $4.29 million Brighton strata sale at 2/21 Birdwood Avenue (below), with a three bedroom, three bathroom Edgard Pirotta-designed beachfront townhouse.

It last sold in 1999 at $1.54 million.

Melbourne held 1,272 auctions this week with a preliminary clearance rate of 74 percent this week. 

Some 803 Sydney auctions were held, up from 643 last week and lower than last year when 914 were held. Sydney’s clearance rate fell over the week to 74 per cent, from 77.4 per cent last week.

Preliminary results for Brisbane show a 49.5 per cent clearance rate, up from 37.6 per cent last week, which was the weakest result so far this year.
