It was 1994 when Claremont, the seven bedroom 1886 Burwood, Sydney landmark residence, last sold for $790,000.

Some 21 years later Claremont was listed by Stan Bailey from Bailey Joinery. He's well known for his quality joinery work of period style homes throughout Sydney.

The conservation of the original features of the home has been the main focus of his work over many years.

The two-storey Victorian residence sold through Matthew Nolan at Rich & Oliva Croydon at weekend onsite auction at 2 Ethel Street Burwood for $4,325,000.

It is a tightly held home having previously traded when sold in 1980 to the office furniture supplier Barry Bowerman for $285,000.
