The landmark sculptural building at 1 Hargrave St, Paddington purpose designed in 1989 for Sherman Galleries, sold last week, for $3 million by R&W Bondi Junction agent Andre Frack.

The contemporary three level building with rooftop garden terrace was bought by Sydney sculptors Janos Korban and Stefanie Flaubert.

They have a well-established furniture practice in Alexandria renowned for their work with metal.

It will likely resume life as a gallery and exhibition space, a result no doubt pleasing not only the sellers, art academic and philanthropist Dr Gene Sherman and Equitilink founder Brian Sherman, but the local arts community.

Buying interest in the corner building, which operated as Sherman Galleries until 2002, also came from several quarters including architectural and design firms.
