The three-time Archibald winner Eric Smith sold his three-bedroom Woollahra home for $2.96 million at weekend auction, close to $500,000 above its $2.5 million reserve at BHR auction.

The Smith family moved into the double-fronted Victorian home in 1958.

5 Small Street, Woollahra

The studio at the back of the home was where he painted his three Archibald Prize-winning portraits.

The dilapidated cottage and studio on 393 square metres on Small Street sold to an Eastern suburbs builder.
