A Glebe terrace, featured in the Australian film Looking for Alibrandi, has been sold after its Ray White auction at $1,320,500.

The fame of 1 Cardigan Street dates back to the 2000 film which movie buffs will recognise as the home of Josephine Alibrandi.

Updated since the film, the two-bedroom 1900 home features a modern kitchen, bathroom and new decor.

Based on the novel by Melina Marchetta about a teenage girl, Looking for Alibrandi starred Australian actors including Pia Miranda, Anthony LaPaglia and Greta Scacchi.

It last sold after 20 years of ownership in 2013 at $900,000, when the film was writ large in the marketing.

The inner west gave Italo-Australian authenticity to Looking for Alibrandi, though Cardigan Street was chosen for its city views.
