A Lilyfield home with authentic 1950's kitchen with breakfast nook fetched $1.21 million at weekend auction.

The three bedroom 1900 Federation home on 215 square metre block finishes off the authentic 50s package with Hills Hoist on the rear lawn.

The 16 Starling Street offering through Pilcher Residential came with price guidance over $1.05 million.

There was also attendance by former Prime Minister John Howard who was there filming the 1950s house as part of a documentary on the Menzies era.

No bowl of fruit evident, nor plate of lamingtons or the Daily Mirror newspaper.

"Owned by the same family since 1946, the house is being sold with its vintage furniture included," listing agent Simon Pilcher said.

The buyer was a bit overwhelmed on Saturday as former Prime Minister John Howard was in attendance.

As a bonus for the winning bidder Simon Pilcher donated a copy of John Howard’s book The Menzies Era, which John Howard was kind enough to sign for her.

Back in Wollstonecraft was the weekend's top auction - not too far from where John and Janette reside.
