The Anglican Diocese of Newcastle has put its Bishopscourt estate for 11 May Walkom Real Estate tender.

The 4,130 square metre Brown Street property housed the city’s successive Anglican bishops until current bishop Greg Thompson chose to reside elsewhere.

The local Fairfax Media paper suggests $4.75 million plus, but new moves to have an interim heritage order placed on the property could be bothersome.

The seven bedroom, four bathroom 1929 Bishopscourt is not heritage listed but parts of its grounds are.

The Sydney Bishopscourt failed to sell on its recent listing.
