The winners of the Le marché international des professionnels de l'immobilier (MIPIM) awards were announced overnight at the annual Cannes property exhibition.

The Frasers Property Group-Sekisui House Australia project, One Central Park won the award for best innovative green building in the 2015 awards.

MIPIM is attended by 21,000 property professionals from across the globe, organised by Reed Midem. Now in its 26th year, 1000 delegates attended the 25th award ceremony, at which 12 awards were granted from 160 plus initial submissions to MIPIM (Le marché international des professionnels de l'immobilier).

The residential towers at Sydney's One Central Park have won many awards since One Central Park was completed in December 2013.

Designed by French architecture practice Jean Nouvel with Australian firm PTW, the skyscraper’s standout feature is its plant covered walls.

The other finalists up against One Central Park were:

  • Kastelli Community Centre, Lifecycle Project (Oulu, Finland)
  • Powerhouse Kjørbo (Oslo, Norway)
  • The Edge (Amsterdam, The Netherlands)

Frasers Australia chairman Dr Stanley Quek's vision for Central Park was not just to create great architecture, but also to create a sense of place – a destination for the entire city, where people can say, ‘Let’s meet at Central Park’.

"This is a rare opportunity to design a new neighbourhood from the ground up, on a grand scale, with the future of Sydney in mind,” he foresaw.

In November 2014, One Central Park was declared the Best Tall Building Worldwide by the esteemed Council for Tall Buildings and Urban Habitat, in Chicago.
