A two-level penthouse on Queensland’s Sunshine Coast has set a new Caloundra apartment price record of $4.25 million.

A local couple secured the 580 square metre apartment through Billie LeKich of Billie’s Prestige Selection.

It is in the waterfront building, Anchorage on Maloja Avenue, which is the millionaires’ row of Caloundra.

David Townsend's Shanlodge Pty Ltd completed the $40 million Anchorage on Maloja in partnership with former Brisbane Lord Mayor Dr Clem Jones AO.

The apartment with four bedrooms and three bathrooms bettered the price set for a penthouse in the Aspect building, which Billie LeKich sold in 2008. CoreLogic RP Datas indicates the Lower Gay Terrace block's highest sale was $3.15 million. There was also a $3.25 million sale in 2007 in Anchorage too.

Marketing on the project in 2007 but the global financial crisis prompted a four-year construction delay.

CoreLogic RP Data put the median unit price at $497,500 at its 2008 peak. It now sits around $354,000.

LeKich suggests the $4.25 million sale, which followed another $2.65 million in the same building last month, reflected a return to confidence in the area’s luxury market.

The remaining offerings (one picture above) are listed with several out of area conjunctional agents.

There are five of the development’s 12 residences remaining for sale, including another two-level penthouse priced at $4.65 million.

The single storey apartments ranged from 382-square-metre sub-penthouses to the 650 square metre dual level super-penthouses.

Anchorage has a lap pool, private jetty, lap pool and a 12-metre floating pontoon which is scheduled be completed later this month.
