Designed by society 1930s architect Marcus Martin, the revamped 3 Marne Street, South Yarra trophy home has been sold.

The recently modernised five bedroom house has five living areas that sit around its portico with pool, which is now outdoors.

Its initial asking price was $13 million through conjunctional agents Justin Long of Marshall White and Andrew Baines of Kay & Burton, adjusted by mid-2014 to $12.5 million.

No final sale price has been revealed as to what was secured by rag trader Katherine Strover.

Neurosurgeon David Wallace had sold the 962 square metre holding in 2012, having been there since 1977.

Then listed with $8 million plus hopes, it last sold in 2012 for $6.25 million.
