Work has started on a master planned residential community at Elderslie in Sydney’s south-western rural outskirts.

The 24-hectare Argyle project, which is near Camden, is a collaboration between land developer AVJennings and Investa Land.

Argyle will have 500 lots and is expected to house 1,500 people. The development is close to shopping areas, established schools and public transport. It is aimed at first and second home buyers.

According to RP Data, the median house price for Elderslie is $335,000. It has remained the same for several years.

The project will significantly boost the population of the area, which was at 2,647 people in 2006.

As part of the Argyle development the Oxley Rivulet will be restored and more than 3.5 hectares will be open space.
