Meriton Group, Australia’s largest apartment developer, have signed a partnership agreement with Livable Housing Australia.

Aiming to focus on universal standards around safety and comfort, with design adapting to changing circumstances and mobility of residents, Meriton's general manager Peter Spira said that they consider the deal an evolution.

Livable Housing Australia executive director Amelia Starr said that this is one more step forward to getting the entire industry to adopt the Livable Housing Design Guidelines. At present, they also had the Australian Institute of Architects, the Property Council of Australia (PCA), Lend Lease, Master Builders Australia and Stockland as Corporate Partners.

The move was welcomed by PCA’s chief executive officer Ken Morrison, saying that the leaders of the industry recognise that a livable home is simply good design.

It was also noted that the partners have been embracing the guidelines as they believe it will make the properties easier to sell.
