According to RP Data, these were the 10 biggest sales this week. The list doesn't include the 12-bedroom 1888 Victorian Petersham trophy home sold at weekend auction for $3.3 million, or the loss making Mermaid Beach home that sold on Sunday for $4 million.

  1. 30 Dawson Avenue, Brighton, VIC

This four bedroom house sold for $4.68 million through Buxton Brighton this week. Just a few doors down from the beach, the home is located in Brighton's golden mile.

With two storeys, the house has both formal and informal living spaces including a parent's retreat, a library and a "children's retreat" with a wet bar. The north facing backyard features a pool and spa, a covered dining area, spotted gum decks and a pool house or separate guest house.

The vendor, prominent harness horse-breeder and construction company director Duncan McPherson, purchased the house in 2000 for $1.5 million.
