Brookfield Place Perth was named the Australian Development of the Year at the Property Council Australia/Rider Levett Bucknall Innovation and Excellence awards last weekend.

The 45 storey office development also took home the SAS International Award for Best Office Development and S4B Studio Award for Best Heritage Development. Positioned in the centre of the Perth CBD, the development has about 74,500 square metres of premium grade commercial space, making it one of the country’s largest commercial office buildings.

Fitzpatrick + Partners in collaboration with Hassell Architects designed the project, which includes the refurbishment of five heritage buildings containing offices, restaurants, bars and fashion retailers. Construction of the development’s second tower is currently underway.

Other big winners at the gala dinner in Sydney on Saturday included the Glen Eira Sports and Aquatic Centre, which received two awards. The $46.6 million Victorian recreation centre was awarded the Best Tourism and Leisure development by Ryan, while the City of Glen Eira took home the ISPT award for Government Leadership.

Meriton’s Soleil apartments won the Gough Recruitment Award for Best Residential Development. Another Brisbane development by Harry Triguboff's Meriton, the Infinity tower, was recently named Australia’s best highrise development at the Asia Pacific Property Awards.

The winners of this year’s Property Council of Australia/Rider Levett Bucknall Innovation & Excellence awards were drawn from 83 finalists across 16 categories.
