Victoria saw around 1,560 auctions in 327 suburbs this past Saturday, making 2013 the hottest year for auctions with nine Super Saturdays on record, according to the Real Estate Institute of Victoria (REIV).

Prior to this year, 2010 comes in a close second with seven Super Saturdays on record.

Richmond was set to have the highest volume of auctions with 27 auctions, followed by Bentleigh East with 23 auctions, Brighton with 20 auctions, Reservoir with 19 auctions, and ST KILDA with 19 auctions as well.

The weekend before last's auction clearance rate stood at 64%, which was the lowest since April.

REIV chief executive Enzo Raimondo believes this reflects the very high number of auctions, noting of last weekend that it will be the last for the year, bringing the grand total to nine. This compares to just two in 2012.
