The vendors of a Mont Albert property going to auction this weekend hope a significant renovation entices $1.2 million-plus buyers.

There’s a website, www.propertytycoon.com.au, where punters can guess what they think properties will sell for at their weekend auctions in Melbourne and Sydney. This season Property Observer readers have their own competition, which you can access here. The winner of the overall competition will win $1,000.

They just don't build them like 1 Laurencia Court, Mont Albert, anymore. This “Waterfall Art Deco” property was built in 1946 and features an original iron curved staircase. The five-bedroom home is full of character and is located at the end of a quiet Mont Albert court.

The current owners purchased the property in 2004 for $613,000 and have made significant cosmetic improvements to the property including an alfresco space that includes a heated below-ground pool. Tom Ryan from Jellis Craig says this property has really struck a chord with a lot of buyers and expects the property will sell in excess of $1.2 million.
