The NSW Government is set to sell its Land and Property Information (LPI) unit in 2016.

NSW has JPMorgan undertaking a scoping study on the sale, according to the Australian Financial Review column, Street Talk.

LPI provides all mapping, titles and other related land information services for NSW.

While the sale of the state's LPI would be the first sale of its kind in Australia, Victoria and South Australia are also consider selling their own land titles offices.

The AFR suggest that the NSW LPI is likely to be worth $500  million.

In 2014-15 some 900,000 plus dealings were lodged for registration, marking a 6.7 per cent increase on already strong volumes in the previous financial year.
