Lend Lease's timber residential high rise Forté reaches for the treetops six weeks on

Lend Lease’s timber tower development Forté in docklands has continued its dramatic rise to the sky as builders start work on the sixth floor. Property Observer has continued its photographic survey for a week six update.

Construction began just six weeks ago, and the development is due to be finished in October.

The $11 million building will be Australia’s first timber high-rise building. Set on an elevated concrete podium, the building will rise to 10 levels and is being built with prefabricated wooden panels made from cross-laminated timber and will feature 23 apartments.

Two weeks ago, work had just started on the fourth floor.

Cranes have been lifting large prefabricated panels into place.

Forté is taking part in the annual Open House Melbourne event on Sunday, July 29. This is a free event that offers Melburnians a chance to discover the wealth of architecture, history and design nestled around the city.
