Global property developer Sekisui House has marked a major milestone, announcing the commencement of its 100th SHAWOOD home in their The Hermitage at Gledswood Hills masterplanned community

SHAWOOD complete designer homes are available from $635,000 at The Hermitage, located in Sydney’s south-west.

The Hermitage is a 320 hectare masterplanned community that will eventually comprise over 2,000 new dwellings.

It boasts 155 hectares of open space, including 35 hectares parklands and a 120 hectare golfing precinct, boasting a premiere nine hole course designed and constructed by Greg Norman. A 3.5 kilometre green corridor connects the northern golf precinct with the community.

The Hermitage Sales and Information Centre is located on the corner of Fairbank Drive and Camden Valley Way, Gledswood Hills

SHAWOOD homes benefit from decades of building expertise that Sekisui House has fine-tuned. Since its launch in Japan in 1995, Sekisui House has built more than 50,000 SHAWOOD homes globally.

Toru Abe, CEO and managing director at Sekisui House Australia said its market research indicated in the very early stages that Australia had the potential to adopt and "perhaps in time, demand a higher level of performance and quality in mainstream new home building".

“It was clear that energy efficiency and thermal comfort would continue to be pushed by policy makers and for good reason, particularly given the current turn of events in terms of housing affordability and level of energy consumption charges," Abe said.

"The SHAWOOD homes product is one of Australia’s market leaders in these areas."

Sekisui House constructs on average 3,500 SHAWOOD homes every year in a global environment where energy and thermally efficient homes are growing in demand, Abe added.

Craig D’Costa, general manager at Sekisui House Australia said one of the most significant proof points for reliability was the high-quality laminated timber post and beam structural frame.
