Victoria’s Mallee tops list of 10 cheapest municipalities to buy land: HIA-RP Data

The Mallee region in northern Victoria is the cheapest place in Australia to buy a block of residential land, according to the latest HIA-RP Data Residential Land Report

The median lot price in Mallee was $73,500 over the June quarter.

The Mallee municipality incorporates the rural towns of Mildura and Swan Hill as well as the Shire of Gannawarra and the Shire of Buloke.

Nationally, in the June 2012 quarter the weighted median residential land value in Australia eased by 0.3% to $192,828.

Sales were up 23.3% to 15,255, the highest number of sales recorded since the June quarter of 2010.
