Subiaco is a suburb of Perth, Western Australia. It is located on the Swan River, four kilometers from the Perth central business district. The suburb derives its name from Subiaco Convent, which was built by the Sisters of Mercy in 1868.[2] It was originally part of the Parish of St John's and later became part of the Parish of Claremont. In 1897 it became a separate parish.
The convent closed in 1974 and the property was redeveloped as Subiaco Oval, home of Australian rules football team West Coast Eagles and rugby union team Western Force.
