Seaholme is a suburb of Melbourne, located in the west of the city. The suburb is mostly residential, with a small commercial area near the railway station. Seaholme is bordered by Altona to the north and Laverton to the south.
The first settlers in Seaholme arrived in 1842, when James Atkinson purchased land in the area. The first house was built on the site in 1849. A railway station was opened in Seaholme in 1881, and the suburb grew steadily thereafter. Today, Seaholme has a population of about 4,000 people.
Most of Seaholme's residents are employed in Melbourne's CBD or in one of the western suburbs such as Altona or Laverton. There are a few small businesses located in Seaholme's commercial area, including a supermarket, a bakery, and a couple of restaurants. The main attraction for visitors is probably the beach at Altona Bay, which is only a few minutes away by car or train.
