Rosebery is an inner suburb of Sydney, located 4 kilometres south of the CBD. Originally part of the Municipality of Redfern, Rosebery was proclaimed a separate municipality in 1906. The suburb takes its name from Archibald Cochrane, 8th Earl of Rosebery, British statesman and Liberal Prime Minister (1894–1895).
The population density in Rosebery is high for Sydney, with 5,711 residents per square kilometre.
Most dwellings are apartments or terraced houses. There is a small commercial area along Cleveland Street that services the local residents.
