Prahran is an inner suburb of Melbourne, located 3 km south-east of the CBD. Originally part of Richmond, it was renamed after the Earl of Prahran in 1877. It has a population density well above that of Melbourne as a whole.
Prahran is bordered by Commercial Road and Chapel Street to the north; Alexandra Avenue, Orrong Road and High Street to the east; Malvern Road to the south; and Greville Street to the west.
The suburb is characterised by its mix of Victorian era terrace houses, post-war apartment blocks and new high-density developments.
