Labrador is a suburb located in the north of the Gold Coast, Australia. The suburb is situated on the banks of Coomera River and is surrounded by bushland. Labrador was once a rural area with dairy farms and poultry production, but it has since become a residential suburb. The population of Labrador is around 5,000 people.
The first inhabitants of the Labrador area were the Yugambeh people, who were part of the Bundjalung nation. The Yugambeh people were hunters and gatherers who lived off the land. They used fire to clear land for hunting and to create shelter. The name 'Labrador' comes from an Aboriginal word meaning 'place where dogs are bred'.
