Gravity Tower in Fishermans Bend now complete

Gravity Tower, the first tower to start construction, top out and reach completion with residents now calling it home has been completed in the Montague precinct in Fishermans Bend.

Developed by Blue Earth Group, designed by Plus Architecture and constructed by Hamilton Marino builders, Gravity Tower is well and truly a tower of the pre-Andrews government planning regime.

So much so, construction has completed before the imminent release of the draft Fishermans Bend Framework which will govern the development of the entire urban renewal area for decades to come.

"While there is ongoing planning uncertainty around Fishermans Bend, it's very exciting to be at the forefront of a precinct which will be integral to the future development of Melbourne's inner city" said Plus Architecture Director Ian Briggs.

What they say

Gravity Tower's distinctive facade of angled louvres is not just a visual motif however the solution acts as a sun shade for the apartments within without restricting views.

Designed to act as a beacon, the design references the industrial heritage of the area, providing a future gateway to Fishermans Bend.

Set on a narrow site at the top of the Montauge Precinct, Gravity was designed with the future rise of a precinct in mind, with the tower set back from Montague Street allowing the rear of the building to abut future developments on the same block.
